Read at the crematorium by Olly Sanders
It was an honour to be asked today to carry my good friend Tommy on his final journey
So many journeys we have had before together
It is also an honour and privilege to read the following poem by
Margret Mead
Remember Me – By Margaret Mead
To the living, I am gone,
To the sorrowful, I will never return,
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart,
Your thoughts, and your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.

There will always be apart of Tommy in my heart, in my mind.
Good Bye Good Friend – for now
One reply on “Remember Me”
I thought the only time you showed any feeling and emotion Olly, was when talking about The Willis, The Jag, Vincent, or some other oxidised piece of machinery, but today you delivered a tour-de-force, it was the Stirling Moss of the poetry book. Congratulations! You should feel very proud of yourself, you delivered for Tommy what you had hoped to achieve, I’m sure as he looked down on your performance, he would have been mightily impressed and proud, as are we all. I thank you, it was perfect.
