I met Neil when I joined G4S back in 2013. I would like to share a story of Neil. In 2017, Neil and I attended a cricket match at Lords. England were playing South Africa and it was my first time at Lords. Neil took me around the ground, sharing stories and anecdotes along the way. He was such great company and we spent a very hot day out in the sun, just enjoying the cricket, eating and drinking.
Lords were asking people to submit selfies of themselves at the game and a select few would be shown on the giant screens around the ground. I somehow managed to persuade Neil to take a selfie with me – his first ever selfie he said. He was all rather amused with the whole thing.
After the lunch break, we were walking back to our seats when I looked up and saw our selfie picture had made it to the big screen. I think a part of him was aghast at what had just occured. One simply does not do things like this at Lords of all places. This wasn’t the Oval! But another part (larger part) found the whole thing very amusing and he was chuffed with what we had accomplished. All those years of attending Lords and he finally made it onto the big screen.
I will always look back at that day with fondness. Neil was such a lovely man and the world is poorer without him
